Activities
Red Roof Lodge: Activites
Red Roof Lodge is an all season resort. Here’s a few great ideas.
Winter:
Leavenworth is a magical winter wonderland. You could spend all winter in Leavenworth and still not experience everything there is to offer. A few of our personal favorites…
Alpine Skiing: Stevens Pass and Mission Ridge are both about 45 minutes away. Stevens Pass offers the big ski resort experience. Mission Ridge is a more private experience, aimed more for locals.
Sleigh Rides: Multiple places offer winter sleigh rides. You’ll feel caught up in the winter magic, bundled up in a horse pulled sleigh across snow covered mountain landscape.
Snowshoeing: Just around the house there are a variety of beautiful snowshoe trails. Keep an eye out for local wildlife! Deer are abundant, but you may be able to find something more exciting.
Winter Festivals: Downtown is always exciting. Through winter they host a variety of exciting festivals from Oktoberfest to Icicle fest (the dog sleigh contests are always exciting).
Spring:
This is a personal favorite time of the year. The wildflowers are in bloom, the crowds are gone, and the crisp mountain air is ideal for outdoor activities. Some favorite activities in the bright mountain spring are…
Hiking: With the wildflowers in bloom you can hike along trails through the hills, along the water canal, or through the valley and see awe inspiring sites. Find Glacier Lilies, Western Trillium, Indian Paintbrush, Purple Lupine, and so much more.
Golf: The perfect time of the year for Golfing is spring. The golf course downtown is perfect for all experience levels. You can rent clubs if you did not bring your own.
Bird Watching – Leavenworth is on one of the four major Bird Migratory Routes in the western hemisphere. Inspiration for the Bird Watching Festival downtown, you can find a variety of different birds in the local wilds.
Summer:
Oh wonderful, hot Leavenworth summers! The on site, deep dive pool will dominate your summer stay. Turn the falls on and jump in! You can star gaze late into the night, and you may even fall asleep under the abundance of stars in the warm nights. You can even see Milky Way painted across the sky. Some other wonderful summer activities in town are…
River rafting and intertubing: You can float the calm icicle river or ride the rapids just out of town. One of the best ways to spend the day and great for the whole family.
Wineries: Central Washington has a thriving and wonderful winery presence. You can tour the vineyards, taste different wines, and attend various events hosted by the vineyards.
Theater: Always a wonderful way to spend an evening, look into the local theaters. There is a permanent Sound of Music theater that overlooks the town. You’ll feel you’re in the Barvarian mountains whilst you cheer the Von Trapp family to freedom. Aside from the installation, there is the musicals being hosted at the Sleeping Lady and a rotating line up at the theater in town.
Fall
This time of year brings an exciting array of festivals. A popular one of course is Oktoberfest, a celebration of Barvarian culture and beer. The lodge is also perfect for large family dinners, and can comfortably host the whole extended family. Some other activities we recommend…
Hiking: Similar to the awe that Spring inspires, you’ll find the turn of the season a beautiful time to hike along the mountain trails. The trees are turning colors, the wildlife is active, and the climate is perfect.
Harvest: Leavenworth is nestled in the mountains near the abundant farms. Fall is the best time to try the acclaimed Washington produce. Apples of course are what we are known for but you can find all kinds of locally grown fruits and veggies. Skip the grocery store this time of year and buy locally grown produce.
